Corner Shed Ideas for Small Gardens

Corner sheds are a great way to make the most of unused garden corners, thanks to their angled design. They provide all the benefits of a regular shed, with the added advantage of fitting into smaller spaces. Check out our list of corner shed ideas to fully utilise yours!

Summer House Corner Shed Conversion

Sheds go beyond just a dumping ground, and a corner shed is no different. Tucked away in your garden, it can be turned into a private retreat with a summer house concept.

You might be a bit limited in space, but you can make it work. Our guide to ‘How to Use a Summer House for Outdoor Entertaining’, is sure to come in handy. Find inspiration, no matter its size, layout, or design.

Tips: If the window’s too small, consider modifying the wooden shed by replacing it with a bigger one. Or install skylights on the roof if possible. If that’s not an option, placing the shed in a spot with plenty of sunlight will do the trick.

Garden Pub Extended with Decking

It’s possible to convert a corner shed into a small garden pub or drink station. Let’s use the BillyOh Expert Tongue and Groove Corner Workshop Shed as an example. The 7×7 size can fit an L-shaped bar table, like the BillyOh Nightjar, in one of the back corners. This leaves enough space for a couple of bar stools along the front edge.

If you need more room for bar tables and chairs, this is where the decking comes in. It might take a bit of DIY effort and cost on your end, but it’ll add dimension to your bar shed and, of course, extra space.

Corner Potting Shed

A potting shed is a space for potting, propagating, and planting, and your corner shed can fulfil that role. Position standing shelves along the walls with windows, and that’s where your potted plants will go. Use the back corner wall for a small potting bench, and place more storage (like wall shelves) on the other side. This way, you’ll have space for tools, pots, and compost.

Garden Play Room

This is similar to an actual kids’ wooden playhouse, but a bit bigger, so even teenagers (and parents) can fit in! Since children will likely occupy the space, the way to do it is to make it kid-friendly. This includes covering any sharp corners with soft padding or corner protectors.

You might also want to build smaller furniture that suits them. A soft rug or rubber mats are perfect for the floor, adding extra safety in case they trip. For interior concepts, you’ll find more here: Playhouse Ideas for Teenagers.

Hobby Workshop in the Nook

For this corner shed idea, just swap the potting shed furniture with workshop essentials. Tool racks and pegboards are a great alternative to a cabinet if space is too limited. The trick is to add the cabinets to the workbench instead—this works if you’re building the table yourself.

For instance, you could include built-in drawers underneath the tabletop. A tool rack can also be part of the workbench, while pegboards go up on the wall. Such additions can help cut down on clutter and make it much easier to grab what you need when necessary.

Round-up

A nestled corner shed, rather than just for storage, could make a great summer house retreat, a pub station with extended decking, a potting shed, a garden playroom, or a hobby workshop.

The ideas don’t stop here, though—but these make a great starting point. Good luck!
